DBq v1.00
a dBASE file Query / Message System, by Harvey Parisien 1:249/114
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
██ General usage....
The user enters a netmail message to the KEYWORD provided by your SysOp.
For example To: DBQ
Then, they enter a password on the Subject line if required. This is
currently unsupported, so the subject can be anything.
In the body of the message, there are 2 command types, FILE: and FIND:
which are used as follows:
FILE: database{.dbf} [the extension is optional]
FIND: search text [this is not case sensitive]
Once the user's query message is received, the system will send a message
back to the user with the results.
Some other commands are:
Alternate commands issued under the FIND: command type:
.LS -or- .LIST STRUCTURE
This returns a file structure for the database in FILE:
.LF -or- .LIST FILES
This returns a list of available database files.
For this command a FILE: entry is not required.
.? -or- .HELP
This returns a message containing this HELP text.
For this command a FILE: entry is not required.

██ Files requried are...
DBQ.EXE Main Executable file
DBQ.CFG Configuration file for DBQ.EXE
DBQ.HLP Help file for DBQ.EXE
DBQ.DOC Documentation file for DBQ.EXE

H.DOC Documentation file for H.EXE
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
██ Details for the DBQ.CFG configuration file...
See/edit the DBQ.CFG file included.
The first 8 lines of this file are critical. Other lines are not read
by DBq.EXE.
Line 1 is the path of your database files (*.DBF files).
Line 2 is the path of your *.MSG netmail message area.
Line 3 is the path and filename of your log (leave blank to disable)
Line 4 is the KEYWORD your users have to send their message to for queries.
Line 5 is your fidonet address
Line 6 is your systems origin name
Line 7 is the path of your outbound mail
Line 8 is the extension you want your outbound packets to have - see
details below.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
██ Installation of DBQ...
Copy DBQ.EXE, DBQ.CFG, DBQ.HLP, DBQ.NOT and H.EXE to your BBS directory.
In your BBS control batch file, enter the command DBQ right after your
commands to process inbound mail.
Here's a sample extraction from my BBS.BAT file...
:MAILin
C:
cd\max
SQUISH IN OUT SQUASH LINK -fECHOTOSS.LOG
msg2fax
DBq
GOTO BINKLOOP
... msg2fax is another utility I wrote to send out passworded messages
as faxes. It too has to be run after mail processing.
Line 8 of your configuration file (dbq.cfg) is the extension you want
your outbound packets to have. This has been left user definable incase
you want to fire mail into your inbound with an extension of PKT. If
you need to serve POINTS on your system, you should fire return messages
into your inbound, and run your mail processor again right after DBq to
process newly created messages by DBq. If you are not serving POINTS on
your system, you should fire return messages right into your outbound,
then you don't need to run your mail processor a second time. If you
want to keep the return netmail messages in your netmail database, then
fire mail into your inbound and run the mail processor a second time.
